Free At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits are Available at Most South Carolina Health Department Locations

The White House announced today that free COVID-19 tests kits are available again to all U.S. households as officials prepare for a potential surge in coronavirus cases this winter.

Cases are up 90% across the country.  Deaths and hospitalizations are also up, with nearly 3,000 COVID-related deaths reported last week.  Most of those patients were ages 65 and older.

You can order the free test kits now at www.covidtests.gov, which will be delivered by the United States Postal Service starting next week.  There's a limit of one order per residential address, with four tests in each package.

Orders will start shipping on Monday, December 19.  An order number will be provided after the order entry, and a tracking number will be sent after the order has been shipped, if you provide your email address.

For those who don't have access to the internet and need to order by phone, call the covidtests.gov test kit order fulfillment helpline at:  1-800-232-0233.
