Augusta Woman Held Against Her Will in Her Home

A local man was arrested this week for allegedly holding a woman against her will in her home for three days.

The victim told the Richmond County Sheriff's Office 43-year-old Avonia Moss entered her home as she was opening the front door.  She said she asked Moss to leave several times, but he refused.  She said he punched her several times, she lost consciousness, then discovered she was on the bathroom floor bleeding.

The victim told investigators Moss allegedly sexually assaulted her over a period of three days and refused to let her leave so she couldn't get help.

At one point, the victim said she called 911 when Moss went outside to smoke, but she told the operator everything was fine when he came back inside.  She finally got away when she told Moss she needed to pick up her children.  He let her leave and that's when she went to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office for help.

Moss was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with rape, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment.
