Man in Custody for Deadly Shooting Monday in Burke County
Joshua Glendell Hammock Charged in Burke County Murder
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says a man was shot and killed at a home in the 1200 block of Tom Bargeron Road in Sardis Monday night.
Deputies were sent to the home around 9:15 pm to a report of a shooting. They found the body of 41-year-old Jason Fort in the doorway of the home. He had been shot and least one time and died at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Fort was allegedly shot by 37-year-old Joshua Glendell Hammock of Girard during a confrontation.
Hammock was taken into custody and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Hammock is being held without bond in the Burke County Detention Center.
