The outdoor siren system will be tested today at Plant Vogtle in Burke County.
Georgia Power, along with county emergency management agencies, will participate in the annual siren test at noon to ensure that residents around the site are aware of the sounds and messages that would be heard in the event of an emergency.
The test will include activating outdoor sirens in the 10-mile radius around the plant, and could also include a code red message sent to residents just before the test.
Residents can go to their local emergency management agency website to register to receive code red alerts.
