College Football Playoff Update: Georgia Will Play Ohio State

The College Football Playoff teams have been announced. Ohio State is back in the mix landing at No 4. The Buckeyes will face No. 1 Georgia in the  Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. No. 2 Michigan will play No. 3 TCU in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. Both games will be played on Saturday, December 31st.

Michigan and TCU will play at 4:00 p.m. Georgia and Ohio State will play at 8:oo p.m.

In Pictures: Georgia Celebrates SEC Championship

The Georgia Bulldogs have a lot to celebrate this year. In addition to an undefeated regular season, the Bulldogs won the SEC Championship on Saturday, beating LSU 50-30.

“Our team kind of played this game like they played the whole season: unbelievably well in spurts and unbelievably poor in spurts, and answered the bell when they had to,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “I’m proud of ‘em. They’ve handled that all year. I want to give a lot of credit to Brian Kelly and the LSU team that never went away, never quit fighting. .”

While Kirby Smart celebrated the win he made it clear to dawgnation.com that giving up 30 points in a game for the first time this season was going to be addressed.

“Our guys understand as the year goes on, teams tackle poorly, teams cover poorly. Defense usually deteriorates,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “That’s not the culture here. It won’t be accepted or tolerated, so we got to fix it.”

Saturday’s win was Georgia’s 14th SEC Championship. While the Bulldogs remain at the top of the AP and CFB Playoff rankings, the remainder of the top 5 will change this week. USC and TCU both lost over the weekend. Georgia fans will have to wait until the final rankings are released to find out who the Bulldogs will play.
