Thomson High School's football team won its third-round state playoff game against South Atlanta November 25.  That means the Thomson Bulldogs will travel this Friday, December 2, to compete in the final four matchup against Appling County.

McDuffie County School District officials have announced an early release schedule for all schools in the district for this Friday to ensure that all afternoon bus routes are complete and Thomson athletes, cheerleaders and the band have enough travel time to get to Jimmy Swain Stadium in Baxley.  Friday's early release schedule is as follows:

*Dearing Elementary--1:00 p.m.

*Maxwell Elementary---1:30 p.m.

*Thomson Elementary---1:30 p.m.

*Norris Elementary---1:30 p.m.

*Thomson-McDuffie Middle---1:30 p.m.

*Thomson High---1:30 p.m.

*McDuffie Achievement Center---1:30 p.m.

If Thomson beats Appling County, the team will advance to the state championship game.  That game will be played Friday, December 9, in Atlanta.  If Thomson competes in the state championship game, the district will enact a "Learn from Home Day" on December 9.  The district will make final announcements regarding schedule adjustments on Monday, December 5.
