Chatham County Mother Charged with Toddler Son’s Death
Tests Confirm Remains Found in Savannah Landfill Belong to Quinton Simon
Chatham County authorities have finally made an arrest in connection with the disappearance and death of 21-month-old Quinton Simon. The toddler was reported missing October 6 by his mother, 22-year-old Leilani Simon.
Investigators named the boy’s mother the only suspect in his death, but never said what evidence they had that led them to that conclusion. They spent days searching through an area landfill for the child’s body, but never confirmed that it had been found.
Chatham County Police officials say Leilani Simon was taken into custody this afternoon and is being held in the Chatham County Detention Center. Authorities are expected to hold a news conference this evening to provide more information.
