Woman Charged with Biting Local Man’s Dog

Richmond County authorities say a local woman has been arrested in connection with a recent burglary, but say she allegedly bit the homeowner's dog when deputies tried to take her into custody.

According to the incident report, a man returned to his home on Walton Way and found a front window broken.  Once inside, he found 24-year-old Destiny Thomas.  Investigators say Thomas grabbed the man's small dog and left on foot.  Deputies responded to the homeowner's call and found Thomas.  As they tried to take her into custody, deputies say she allegedly started biting the dog.  As Thomas reportedly fought with deputies, they say she also tried to grab the dog around the mouth and strangle it.

Deputies were able to save the dog and get Thomas in custody.  She was charged this week with burglary and animal cruelty.
