Runoff elections in Georgia are now required by law to be held on the 28th day after Election Day for a General Election Primary, Special Election Primary, General Election, or Special Election.
The November 8 contest ended with a runoff needed between Republican Herschel Walker and the incumbent, Democrat Raphael Warnock, since neither got the required 50% of the vote to win outright.
Early voting for the December 6 runoff begins one week earlier, November 28, and runs through December 2. Anyone who is registered to vote in Georgia can vote in federal, state, and local runoff elections. You can check your voter status at mvp.sos.ga.gov. The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming runoff election was November 7.
If you plan to vote via absentee, you must request a ballot by November 28. If you wait to vote until December 6, you must go to your assigned precinct that day between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
