Another landmark with a name tied to slavery is making news. Historic Calhoun Square in Savannah, Ga is going away. Well, at least the name. Savannah is known for many things. St. Patrick's Day, River Street, and it's historic squares.
To give you a little history, Calhoun Square was named in honor of former vice president John C. Calhoun over 170 years ago. Earlier this week, Savannah City Council voted to remove the name.
It was just two years ago that Charleston, SC removed a statue of John C. Calhoun from Marion square.
