Edgefield County Students Will Have an eLearning day Friday
Students in the Edgefield and Aiken County School Systems will be learning from home on Friday, due to the possibility of severe weather conditions.
A statement from Edgefield School District officials says, "The possibility of sustained winds of 40 to 50 miles per hour as well as isolated tornadoes, will not allow us to operate safely. This means there will be no on-campus instruction or activities Friday and students will complete assignments online."
A detailed email regarding procedures for an ECSD eLearning day has been sent to all parents and staff.
Parents are urged to monitor all ECSD communication platforms for additional updates.
The Aiken County School System sent an email to parents that said, "In an abundance of caution and consideration for the safety of all students, families and employees, all after school activities planned for this afternoon, including Quest Zone, practices and games are cancelled. Parents/guardians of students in Quest Zone should make plans to pick up their children after school today."
In addition, all Aiken County Public Schools and offices will transition from in-person to remote/work tomorrow, Friday, November 11.
Three high schools have playoff games scheduled in Aiken County and will announce the plans for those games and any changes to the schedule that the storm may necessitate.
