LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 17: People sit on a bench while eating ice cream at Victoria Park on July 17, 2022 in London, England. While some Britons flocked to the seaside to beat the current heatwave, city dwellers found other ways to stay cool. In a sign of how England’s urban areas face unique challenges in extreme heat, London’s transport authority warned of reduced service on overground train lines due to worries about the heat’s impact on rail infrastructure.
