A 14-year old girl was hit by a pickup truck this morning in front of Evans High School on Cox Road.  The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says the girl was in the crosswalk at Knights Way when she was hit by a Toyota Tundra being driven by a 16-year-old student.

The driver was reportedly attempting to turn left and failed to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk.   A police report says the girl was knocked to the ground, had visible head injuries and was initially unconscious.  EMS and fire rescue workers described the injuries as "serious, but not life-threatening."

She was taken to Doctors Hospital.  Officials there confirmed her injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver has been cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and improper turn.
