The Richmond County School System says rumors have been circulating today about an incident at Murphey Middle School this morning that isn't true.

Public Information Officer Lynthia Ross says parents will be receiving a letter today, clarifying the incident that caused concern at Murphey Middle and T.W. Josey High School never happened this morning.

The letter to parents explains, "Please be aware that a health emergency on our joint school campus required the school to request emergency medical service assistance.  First responders quickly arrived to support our school nurse and the person needing medical attention.  During the response to the health emergency, a student photographed the empty stretcher and sent an airdrop message that someone was stabbed.  There was no stabbing at our school or on our campus.  If you have any questions, please contact the school office."
