Columbia County Sheriff's OfficeA Columbia County man was sentenced today to 102 months in prison after admitting he had pictures of children who were being sexually exploited.
Forty-six-year-old Mark Christopher Green of Appling pleaded guilty to Possession of Child Pornography in connection with the incidents dating back to 2019. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children got a cyber tip about the pornographic images. GBI agents got a warrant and seized electronic devices from Greene's home. Investigators confirmed they found dozens of images and videos of child exploitation on those devices.
Authorities say Greene was on probation for a prior conviction for drug possession at the time he was arrested on the child pornography charge.
In addition to the 102 months in prison, Greene was also ordered to pay $18,000 in restitution, to serve 15 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender once he's completed his prison term.
There is no parole in the federal prison system.
