http://gty.im/1418246524      The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a fentanyl overdose has claimed the life of a Thomson man and three emergency services responders were taken to the hospital for treatment today.

Authorities responded to a medical emergency just after 10 a.m. today at Heritage Villas on Noble Street in Thomson.  A news release from the GBI says three of the EMS personnel were in contact with one of two men in the apartment displaying symptoms associated with possible fentanyl exposure.  The man later died.  The other person in the apartment is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.  The EMS personnel were treated and released later in the day.

A GBI medical examiner will be doing an autopsy to determine an official cause and manner of death.

For now, officials say a preliminary investigation has revealed that evidence associated with suspected fentanyl use was found inside the home.
