46th Aiken’s Makin’ is On, Rain or Shine
One of Aiken’s largest annual events, Aiken’s Makin‘, is being held today and tomorrow and organizers say a rainy forecast isn’t going to shut things down.
For the 46th year, more than 170 craft vendors and 18 food vendors will have their booths set up along Park Avenue from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday.
The huge event normally attracts an estimated 30,000 people who are there to purchase crafts and food from vendors throughout the southeast.
Those who are headed to Aiken’s Makin’ should expect traffic delays. Keep in mind there will be no cross traffic from Chesterfield Street down to Kershaw Street. There will also be no northbound or southbound traffic on Fairfield, Union and York streets. One lane of eastbound traffic along Park Avenue will be open to motorists, but keep in mind there will be no parking along Park Avenue during the two-day event. Handicap parking will be available on Fairfield Street near Saint Mary’s Help of Christians Church on Fairfield Street.
Admission to Aiken’s Makin’ is free.
