Another Person Hit While Directing School Traffic in Columbia County
A School Crossing Guard Hit by a Vehicle Near Lakeside Middle School Today
For the second week in a row, a person directing school traffic has been hit by a vehicle in Columbia County.
The sheriff’s office says Lakeside Middle School teacher Kent Moore was directing traffic in front of the school on Blue Ridge Drive around 7:20 a.m. today when he was hit.
The driver reportedly failed to see Moore while changing lanes. Authorities say Moore was wearing a reflective vest at the time.
Moore is being treated for minor injuries. It’s not known if the driver was cited.
Just last week, a crossing guard was hit while directing traffic on Appling-Harlem Road near Harlem Middle School. Rafael Vega was treated for leg and head injuries.
