Sunday Outage Left Millions Unable to Use EBT Cards
Deadline Today to Apply for Pandemic EBT Cards for SC Students
A nationwide outage Sunday afternoon with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) left millions unable to use their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards at retail stores for several hours.
The South Carolina Department of Social Services tweeted, “a third party processor outage is impacting programs in multiple states.”
Those with EBT cards were not able to use them or check their real-time balances for several hours.
Officials sent out a tweet around 6:00 p.m. Sunday indicating the system was back up and running.
