A social media post Sunday led to a Lakeside Middle School student's arrest later in the day.

Information on the Columbia County School System's anonymous tip hotline led Lakeside officials to the social media post, which threatened gun violence at the school in a TikTok video.

Deputies went to the student's home and during questioning, he said he made the video on a dare, but couldn't identify that person.

Authorities say no weapons were found in the boy's room and his parents say none are kept in the home.

The boy was taken into custody and charged with terroristic threats and acts.

Columbia County school officials encourage anyone that sees or hears threats of suspicious activity to either report it to officials or use the district's tip hotline, (706) 541-3600.
