Steven Spielberg's iconic movie was released in the summer of 1982, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary, E.T. will be shown at IMAX theaters across the country this weekend.
E.T. was the highest-grossing movie of the year when it came out, winning four Academy Awards and nine Oscar nominations. E.T. was the highest-grossing movie in history until "Jurassic Park" took the title 10 years later.
To celebrate the film's 40th anniversary, there will be special showings this weekend at IMAX theaters. In Augusta, you can see E.T. at the Regal Augusta Exchange starting today at 4:00 p.m.
