As a kid, I loved watching the marching bands at football games. Without the band, the atmosphere would not be the same. In addition to performing the fight song, alma mater, halftime, along with energy that band students bring each week, the band changes lives.

I was a band kid. Lots of great memories, a college scholarship, life long friends. Being involved in band taught me how to be a better musician, leader and human being.

I remember seeing a story about the University of Michigan Marching Band on CBS Sunday Morning a few years ago.

This is the story of how this band changed the life of a 9 year old kid.
