Public Hearings Begin on Proposed Property Tax Increase in Richmond County
Richmond County Names Finalists for Teacher of the Year
The Richmond County School Board announced last month its plans to increase the 2022 property taxes it will levy this year by 4.93 percent over the rollback millage rate.
The budget adopted by the school board requires a millage rate higher than the rollback rate. Before the board can set a final millage rate, Georgia law requires three public hearings to give residents a chance to express their views on the increase.
The first two public hearings will be held Tuesday, August 9, at the Board of Education building, 864 Broad Street, at noon and 6 p.m. The following week, the third and final public hearing will be held on August 16, at the Board of Education building, at 5:30 p.m.
