There are lists for EVERYTHING!
Who has the best burger, the best steak, everything. July 29th was National Chicken Wing Day. Here’s a new list of some of the BEST “Hot-Wing” hotspots…
Booty’s – Surprise, Arizona
Booty’s was voted the fan favorite wing last year at the National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo. Booty’s also won first-place honors for it’s traditional “medium” sauce.
Closer to Buffalo, in Amherst, New York, it’s Duff’s Famous Wings. All of the wings at Duff’s come with a warning. “Medium IS HOT! Medium Hot is VERY HOT! Hot is VERY VERY HOT!”
There’s Double Dubs in Laramie, Wyoming. Double Dubs won first place honors in the “extra hot” sauce category at the National Buffalo Wing Festival. There’s no restaurant, they have five food trucks that travel around Laramie. The owner, Trent Weitzel wants to attempt a Guinness World Record next year by serving 55,000 wings in a single day at the Cheyanne Frontier Days.
All of those places are great, it would be fun to travel to Arizona, Wyoming, or even up to Amherst for wings, but wait, there’s no need to travel nearly that far.

Because, also on the list of six is Dave’s Grill and Grocery, outside Aiken. Dave’s is on Wagner Rd. and honestly, it’s a bit outside Aiken. That’s right around the corner compared to Arizona.
Now Dave’s advertises itself as “being more than just a gas station”, yep, it’s a gas station. Dave’s is on Facebook. But here’s the thing about the wings, THEY ONLY SERVE WINGS ON WEDNESDAY. Do you want some of the best wings in the country, IT’S GOING TO BE ON WEDNESDAY. But apparently, they’re worth waiting for.
Michael Stern, the publisher of RoadFood.com says, “The wings are wonderful.”
Now, Dave’s is open from 7am to 7pm.
I’m hoping to get over there one Wednesday and give it a try, I’ll report back.
