It’s back-to-school time soon and that means it’s almost football season.  High school athletes will now be playing on AstroTurf at all Columbia County High Schools.

School district officials say the grass fields posed many problems, especially after heavy rain.

Now that it was time to replace some of the fields, officials decided it would be more cost effective in the long run to replace the grass with AstroTurf.

The cost of each field was roughly $1 million, but officials say that’s still cheaper than maintaining and replacing the grass fields.

School starts August 4th in Columbia County.
