A lightning strike at Fort Gordon late Wednesday morning left one Army reservist dead and nine others injured.

The Army Reserve Command out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina has confirmed the death of 41-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Michael D. Clark.  He was an assigned to the 933rd Forward Resuscitative Surgical Company, 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support) and was an operating room specialist.

Clark had served in the Army and Army Reserve for 22 years.  He and the other 9 soldiers from other Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachments were attending training at Fort Gordon in support of Regional Medic when lightning struck in Training Area 26 on post.

Clark died as a result of his injuries.  A news release says of the nine other reservists assigned to 3rd Medical Command that were injured, seven remain hospitalized in good condition and one has been treated and released.
