To help with back-to-school expenses, South Carolina will once again have a sales tax-free weekend starting at midnight August 5.

Back-to-school essentials like school supplies, computers, backpacks, printers and printer supplies, bedding, clothing, shoes, sleepwear, towels, musical instruments for school and much more will be exempt from sales tax next weekend in South Carolina.

Eligible items can be purchased either online or in-store without paying the state's six percent sales tax and any applicable local taxes from August 5-7.

For a complete list of items that are exempt during the sales tax holiday, go to www.dor.sc.gov/taxfreeweekend.

Georgia hasn't held a sales tax-free weekend since 2016.
