Former South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh was in court in Colleton County this morning for a bond hearing following his arrest last week in connection with the deaths of his wife and son last year.

The 54 year old Murdaugh was previously denied bond on separate charges that he previously stole money from clients.

During today's proceedings Murdaugh pleaded not guilty to murdering his 52 year old wife, Maggie, and their 22 year old son, Paul, at the family's estate in June 2021.

Murdaugh's defense attorney and prosecutors agreed to keep evidence in the case secret amid extensive media attention.  His defense agreed to ask the judge to deny him bond, saying Murdaugh can't afford to post it anyway.  He is also asking for a speedy trial, saying he feels the killer or killers are still on the loose.

The prosecution, meanwhile, denies those claims saying all the evidence points to Murdaugh's guilt in the fatal shootings of his wife and son.
