The Burke County Sheriff's Office says visitation has been suspended at the Burke County Detention Center due to a rise in COVID-19 cases. Officials say a number of inmates and staff have recently tested positive and are undergoing treatment.
Those taken into custody and arrested are tested at the time of booking.
Officials say they have reactivated all COVID-19 protocols for anyone entering the Detention Center.
Although visitation has been temporarily suspended, inmates still have the ability to contact family members electronically.
