Murdaugh called authorities to report he found the bodies of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh on the family's property in Colleton County on June 7, 2021. They had been shot to death. To date, a suspect or suspects have never been named in the case.
Since their deaths, Murdaugh allegedly attempted to stage his own death in an insurance fraud scheme. He was arrested days after the incident, along with his accomplice, Curtis Edward Smith. While in custody, Murdaugh was indicted on multiple charges in connection with a scheme to allegedly defraud clients of millions of dollars.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division met with Murdaugh's family this morning, then released this statement, "SLED's investigation into the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh is still active and ongoing. Agents are committed to the integrity of the investigation, thus no additional information from SLED will be provided at this time."
SLED is also continuing to investigate the death of the family's housekeeper. Gloria Satterfield, who reportedly fell at the Murdaugh home in 2018.
