Transportation officials in both Georgia and South Carolina say they will temporarily restrict lane closures on interstate highways to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible this Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Restrictions will be place starting at 6:00 a.m. Friday, July 1 in South Carolina through 10:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5.

Lane closures will be suspended in Georgia beginning Friday, July 1 at 12:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5.

Georgia's 5-day travel forecast for the holiday weekend indicates the heaviest traffic is expected Friday, with moderately heavy traffic expected both Saturday, July 2 and Tuesday, July 5.

You can keep with travel conditions by using the 511 call system in both states.
