A bleak mustard seed harvest in Canada, which is the world’s largest producer of mustard seeds, could result in a mustard shortage this summer.

Hot weather has resulted in poor growing conditions.  France is experiencing the same problems, and the war in Ukraine, another top producer of mustard seeds, is adding to the shortage.

Production is down at least 50%, leading to the current mustard seed shortage.

Industry officials say the shortage will likely lead to shortages of mustard on store shelves this summer.
