The Augusta Mayor's race started out with a field of 9 candidates and it all came down to one tonight.  Local businessman Garnett Johnson won the runoff race today, beating opponent Steven Kendrick with 53% of the vote.  In the May 24th primary, Kendrick led Johnson by 105 votes, but no one had 50 % of the vote, plus one, to win the race outright.

Two Augusta Commission seats were decided in runoffs today as well.  In District 2, Stacy Pulliam beat opponent Von Pouncey with 65% of the vote.  In District 10, Wayne Guilfoyle beat the incumbent, John Clarke, with 57% of the vote.

In state runoff races....Bee Nguyen won the Democratic nomination in the Secretary of State's race, beating Dee Dawkins with 78% of the vote; William Boddie beat Nicole Horn to win the Democratic nomination in the State Labor Commissioners race; Janice Laws Robinson wins the Democratic nomination in the Insurance Commissioner's race, beating Raphael Baker with 59% of the vote; and Charlie Bailey wins the Democratic nomination in the Lt. Governor's race, beating Kwanza Hall with 57% of the vote.

Of the 129,110 registered voters in Richmond County, 24,716 cast a ballot in today's runoff races.
