Local businessman Garnett Johnson will become the next Mayor of Augusta. He beat opponent Steven Kendrick in today’s runoff race with 53% of the vote. Kendrick finished the race with just over 46% of the vote.
Johnson becomes Mayor after the term limited Hardie Davis leaves office at the end of the year.
One of the two Augusta Commission runoff races has been decided. Stacy Pulliam has won the District 2 race, beating opponent Von Pouncey with 65% of the vote.
There were 24,716 ballots cast in Richmond County for today’s runoff race.
