Motorists continue to dig deeper into their pockets each week to fill their gas tanks.

Prices in Georgia went up 21 cents a gallon last week.  Georgia motorists are now paying an average of $4.84 a gallon for regular unleaded.  The national average topped $5 a gallon over the weekend.  In fact, industry officials say prices spiked 39 cents a gallon nationally, bringing the average to $5.10 a gallon.

There are some stations in the Augusta area selling gas for $4.19 a gallon today.  A few in Thomson have it less than $4 a gallon.

Gas prices are expected to remain high all summer.
