The Augusta Animal Services Shelter on Mack Lane has reopened to the public, more than two years after it closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the shelter was closed to the public, staffing levels were maintained to provide adequate care for the animals.  Animal adoptions were still done by appointment-only, and owner surrenders and strays were still accepted.

Pet adoptions, reclaims and surrenders are now being handled in the shelter's lobby, as opposed to outside.

The shelter is located at 4164 Mack Lane in Augusta.  It's open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.  The shelter is closed on Sundays.
