Starting July first, South Carolina drivers will be paying even more at the gas pump, thanks to a slight increase in the Motor Fuel User Fee. It will jump from $0.26 to $0.28 a gallon, even as motorists are paying record breaking prices at the pump.
This is the sixth and final increase approved by lawmakers in the South Carolina Infrastructure and Economic Development Reform Act. Money collected from the fee goes towards roads, bridges and infrastructure in the state.
