Today is primary and nonpartisan election day in Georgia.

Based on early voting numbers, election directors in both Columbia and Richmond Counties are expecting a 35% voter turnout at the polls today. A reminder that you must be registered in order to cast a ballot.  You must also show a valid photo I.D. and vote at your assigned polling location.

Residents in Richmond County will choose a new mayor, since Hardie Davis is term-limited.  There are nine candidates vying for the job including A.K. Hasan, Steven Kendrick, Marion Williams, Charlie Hannah, Garnett Johnson, Lori Myles, Donald Bradshaw, Lucas Johnson and Robert Ingham.  Five seats on the Augusta Commission are also on the ballot, as well as two Augusta Circuit Superior Court Judge races, Richmond County State Court Judge, and Richmond County Civil and Magistrate Court Judges.
