I was in 5th grade when the original Friday The 13th movie was in theaters. I asked my Mom to go see it and got an emphatic NO, so my friends and I did what most kids in a small town of 2,500 people did…..we got our older friends to buy our tickets and we sneaked into the theatre.
I haven’t seen any of the rest of the series, but was always fascinated by the locations where some of the camp scenes were filmed. I learned today that Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge, Georgia is the iconic film location for Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, one of the most enjoyed installments in the legendary slasher series.
My wife has been wanting to take a day trip somewhere cool since we moved here in January. If you’re looking for a short trip down I-20, it’s only 86 miles from Augusta.
Maybe I’ll see you there.
