A local man, his mother and new girlfriend are behind bars charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping of his two children.

Richmond County authorities say Leydi Hernandez told them her children’s father, Jorge Gonzalez-Ortiz, entered her home early Wednesday morning in the 3300 block of Middleton Place and took their two children, ages 6 and 8, at gunpoint. He was reportedly joined by his mother, Maria Lorenzo, and Barbara Avila.

The two children were found unharmed a couple of hours later at a home on Virginia Avenue.  That’s also where they found both women.  Gonzalez-Ortiz was stopped and taken into custody at the intersection of Stevens Creek and Washington Roads.

Charges against the three range from drug trafficking, to kidnapping, home invasion and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
