“To Kill a Mockingbird” will remain in school libraries and the curriculum in Columbia County, following a parent’s request to ban the book.
The parent cited racial themes as the reason for removing the book.
A committee of parents and teachers reviewed the complaint, then decided Tuesday that “To Kill a Mockingbird” will not be removed from the curriculum. They said it “offers excellent opportunities for teachers to address a variety of standards.”
