UPDATE as of 12 noon 2/18/2022: The coroner has identified the victim as 24-year-old Damon Lino Junior. No other details were released and the body will be sent to the crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
A body was found in Edgefield County on Thursday evening, and an investigation is now underway.
Edgefield County Sheriff's Office responded to a call around 9:40 p.m. on Thursday. They were called to Murphy Village and Royal Place for emergency medical service.
The coroner was called to the scene after a body was discovered. They secured areas of the scene with yellow tape and have begun their investigation. WRDW reports it was a male victim, the son of the residents.
While the person has not been identified, Sheriff Jody Rowland confirmed that deputies found the body of a 24-year-old on the property. He further confirmed the victim was related to a family that lives on or near the property where the body was found.
