Skilyr Hicks, a CSRA native, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 23.

Hicks was a local singer-songwriter who appeared on “America’s Got Talent” back in 2013 at the age of 14. She shared on the show that she started playing when her dad passed away.  She said she wrote her first song shortly after his funeral.

On AGT, Skilyr won the hearts of all the judges and moved on to the next round.  See her performance here:

Unfortunately, Skilyr struggled with her own issues with depression and substance abuse. She passed away on Monday, December 6th at the home of a friend in Liberty, South Carolina.

Such a talented young woman, gone too soon.  Her mother shared with TMZ how Skilyr was loved by her family, which includes her 4 siblings.  She loved to use her music to help people in need.
