A huge alligator was caught and killed in South Carolina recently.  The alligator was located on private property in Charleston County, SC.

The body of the gator was brought to a wild game butcher. The gator was measured at 12-foot-long, weighing in at 445 pounds.

The butcher at Cordray's says they don't usually open up the bellies to examine contents, but they did this time! And what they found was surprising!

The contents of the gator's stomach are pretty bizarre and interesting.  They found a spark plug, the metal jacket from a bullet, claws of bobcats, turtle shell fragments... and FIVE dog tags from dog collars.

On one of the tags, they located a phone number.  And surprisingly, it actually was still in use! The staff members made contact with a man who confirmed he'd lost his hound dog 24 YEARS earlier.  He had been hunting the leased property near where the gator was killed.

They believe this alligator could be 70 plus years old.  It IS legal to kill an alligator if it's considered a nuisance on your private property.
