No one really wants to think about their obituary... because of course that means you've passed away.  The obituary is a way the family can let others know about your life.  But let's be honest, obituaries can sometimes be very cookie-cutter and don't really highlight who the person is. Unless you're this widow from Nebraska, who created a funny, loving obituary for her beloved husband.

After reviewing templates for obituaries after her husband's death, Crystal Sauser knew those weren't going to show who he really was.  She wanted to capture his spirit and legacy in a way he would be proud of.  She and Eric were married for 13 years and have 3 children together.  Unfortunately, Eric battled cancer for nearly 2 years, losing the battle on February 26, 2021.

Crystal said, "Eric was such an amazing guy. He always had a smile on his face ... he was more worried what was going on with everyone else than him."  She also adds that he never wanted pity.  So when it came time to write the obituary, she wrote it in a way that she admits would've embarrassed him, but he would be happy he wasn't "cookie-cutter."  Perhaps the most interesting part of the whole thing is when she mentions him being "dead sexy."

Here are a few highlights from the obituary:

“Eric A. Sauser, AKA Super Dad, AKA Easy, just a rockin’ dude … passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 26, 2021, at the age of 43 with his wife by his side... His departure was just in time for him to make his spiritual appearance at every Red Sox spring game.”

“Eric loved, in this order, his smoking hot wife, his brilliant kids and family, his many friends, the Boston Red Sox, the Kansas City Chiefs (before being a Chiefs fan was cool), the Huskers, Liverpool Futbol, QT iced tea, Adidas sneakers, fishing, backpacking, hiking, hunting, and any old Chevy he saw on the road. We are not positive, but we think the cause of death was either leukemia or more likely being ‘dead sexy.’”

The celebration of life included a dance party. Afterward, they invited guests to enjoy "jamming out to Ozzy Osborne and raising a cold beer (preferably Busch Light)."  Crystal said, " He would be happy that this story is generating inspiration and love."
