Threats of Violence Continue at Georgia Schools, Including Augusta: Law enforcement officials across the state are on high alert after threats of violence were received at a handful of schools across Georgia this morning,…

A South Aiken High School student was arrested Thursday after a handgun was found in his book bag.

School officials say a faculty member spotted the 16 year old male with a “vapor cigarette.”  He fled when the staff member approached him, but was quickly stopped by school administrators and a school resource officer.

Officials say they found the handgun in the student’s book bag, but they say no explicit threat was made by the student.

He’s been charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a pistol on school property.
