EMA and the Sheriff’s Office is asking that you please stay off of the roads in a statement issued by Chief Deputy Lewis C. Blanchard of the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
We have multiple trees down throughout the county. We also have multiple traffic lights out and a couple of downed power lines and the winds are continuing to pick up. County Offices have been closed except for emergency services.
Roads & Bridges, EMA, and the Sheriff’s Office are out if full force correcting problems as quickly as possible to include cutting trees and removing limbs from roadways.
EMA and the Sheriff’s Office is asking that you please stay off of the roads unless necessary and if you must drive, use extreme caution. Stop at ALL non-working traffic signals and then proceed with caution. Don’t park under or near tall trees. Stay away from downed power lines and call 911.

Chief Deputy
Burke County Sheriff’s Office
