Augusta firefighters responded to a spill at ChemTrade on Columbia Nitrogen Drive this morning. Two employees were sprayed with sulfuric acid and one suffered significant burns. Both were taken to the burn unit at Doctors Hospital. Officials say the sulfuric acid was contained within an established dike system and there was no environmental impact.
Free high speed Wi-Fi internet service is now available in downtown Aiken. Atlantic Broadband says the service covers Laurens and Newberry Streets between Barnwell Street and Park Avenue. Wednesday’s announcement is part of Atlantic Broadband’s $4.5 million Fast Forward Aiken Initiative.
