Georgia motorists will be spared a gasoline tax increase this summer. Governor Nathan Deal signed an executive order suspending the increase that would have gone into effect July 1.

The tax is adjusted in January and February based on average fuel prices.  The tax goes up as prices rise, and given the roughly 45 cent increase per gallon in recent months, would have boosted the tax by about 15 percent.
