Richmond County authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who used a bogus check at the Publix store on Washington Road last month.
Sgt. Michael McDaniel says the woman handed the cashier a check for $194.20, then took her bagged items and left. An investigation revealed the account and routing numbers on the check were incorrect and belonged to an active account in Columbia.
The suspect is black. She was wearing a white blouse and dark pants. If you have any information that could help police identify her, contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
